A new playstation model that can double up as telephone will be released by electronic giant Sony in Europe and United States in October. The Playstation Portable 3000 has a built-in microphone and a new screen that has more colors. While the PSP already supports the Skype which enables users to make free phone calls over the Internet, the new version’s built-in microphone will make the process easier, according to Sony.
PSP 3000 Phone: “We believe that this will establish the PSP as a viable communication device,” said David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. The price of the new PSP 3000 is euro 199 or $293.
On October 31, they would launch a version of their flagship Playstation 3 console with 160GB hard drive for more downloads which would retail for euro 448, this will include euro 70 credit for downloads. And a PS3 with 80GB HD will be on sale later in August for euro 449.
Soon, music videos streamed over the Internet would be made for free for the PS3. And in the third quarter of 2008, music and video download service will be made available across Europe.
There are other very minor changes to this such as a microphone for built-in Skype chatting, the re-labeling of the Home button to the PlayStation button and the fact that the current pack comes with Rachet and Clank: Size Matters as well as a National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets UMD movie for $199.
